We hope everyone has a Safe and Happy 4th of July! While many celebrated the holiday this past weekend, we are sure that there will be more celebrations this coming weekend. Please enjoy your Holiday Weekend.

SAFETY TIP

****As a reminder and for the safety of our Drivers/Helpers, please do not place any fireworks in your garbage cart(s). ****

Why fireworks are not safe for garbage carts:

Potential for reignition:

Fireworks can contain residual chemicals and embers that can reignite when compressed with other trash or exposed to heat and friction.

Fire hazard:

A smoldering firework can ignite other trash in the cart, a garbage truck, or at a landfill, leading to serious damage and potential injuries.

Environmental concerns:

Improper disposal can lead to pollution, as leftover chemicals from fireworks can contaminate soil and water sources.

Proper disposal methods:

Soak in water:

Submerge used and unused fireworks in a bucket of water for an extended period, ideally overnight or longer, to ensure they are completely extinguished.

Double-bag:

Once soaked, wrap the fireworks in plastic wrap or two plastic bags to prevent them from drying out.

Dispose in the trash:

Place the double-bagged fireworks in your household trash cart.
